GNAC's innovative arts-in-education offerings include:
The mission of GNAC’s ArtReach programs in the schools is to put the arts IN education. We use all the arts forms - theater, dance, music and the visual arts - to inspire students and teachers of all ages and abilities. Our programs are designed to build community through collaboration in the classroom, help students explore connections to all core subject areas as well as to their personal and cultural histories, and help teachers become more comfortable with incorporating the arts into their classrooms. Many of our school programs incorporate the students' family members, senior citizens from community and other adults from outside the school environment to enhance the learning experiences.
Examples of GNAC's ArtReach School program offerings include:
· After-school Arts Classes · Inspired Learning Arts Programs (linking the arts directly to core curriculum) · Artists' Residencies · Assembly Performances · Intergenerational Arts Programs · Oral History Film / Book Projects · Anti-Bullying & Tolerance Programs · Professional Development Workshops for Classroom Teachers · Gallery School Tours · Parent/Child Art-Making Workshops · Art Installations with Master Teaching Artists · Visiting Artists Salon Series (visual artists, authors, poets, musicians etc.)
Each year GNAC provides a variety of outreach programs designed specifically for senior citizens, community centers and residential living facilities throughout the region. Programming includes:
· Music Performances (jazz, blues, classical, world music) · Theater Performances/Workshops (Reader's Theater, One-Act Plays, Drama Workshops) · Art & Music Lectures · Visual Art Workshops (Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media Collage, Asian Ink/Wash Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture, Photography, Photo Transfer, Crafts, Wearable Art, Textile Painting, Jewelry–making, Faux decorative Painting) · Dance / Movement Workshops · Writing Workshops (Creative Writing, Legacy writing, Journaling) · Gallery Tours · Intergenerational Arts Programs · Visiting Artists Salon Series (visual artists, authors, poets, musicians etc.)
Corporate & Civic Engagement Workshops
These workshops offer corporate executives an opportunity to utilize the arts as a tool to build community among their employees through a civic engagement project while also facilitating an experience for the executives that allows them to see first-hand how the arts have a positive impact on students’ learning, personal growth and skill development.

Kennedy Center Partners in Education
GNAC is proud to be an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center
for the Performing Arts: Partners in Education program, a
program designed to assist arts organizations in developing and
extending partnerships in local school systems in order to
promote the professional development of classroom teachers. We
do this by holding workshops for classroom teachers on how to
incorporate the arts into the teaching of core curriculum
subjects. GNAC's partners in our Kennedy Center affiliation are
the Plainview/Old Bethpage School District and Hofstra
University. The prestigious Kennedy Center affiliation is
awarded to a select few and the Great Neck Arts Center is one of
only 2 such partnerships in New York State.

National Gallery Affiliation
GNAC is also an affiliate of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. This affiliation makes GNAC a major resource on Long Island for the Gallery’s extensive information on the great art masters. The National Gallery’s Educational Loan Programs are designed to foster awareness of the visual arts and help make the Gallery’s collections accessible to students. The Loan Programs meet national standards in the visual arts for K-12, and are designed to help students explore and discuss the work of various artists, genres of art, techniques and styles. GNAC serves as an “affiliate distributor” of National Gallery of Art educational resources, providing materials on loan and by request to schools that participate in the Arts Center outreach programs and school tours. |

Both of these prestigious national affiliations provide our teaching artists and partner schools with access to tremendous resources that help enhance their programs and workshops.
